I just added Wordle to my muted words list on Twitter.
I love playing the game, but I'm just not interested in everyone's daily results.
(Did you know there is a game called Quordle? I may like it more! You try to find 4 words instead of just one. Along with a daily puzzle, there are practice puzzles so you can keep on playing.)
(There is also a game called Nerdle that Eliza and Annie enjoy. Rather than a word, it's a number equation that you try to figure out.)

It has been a year since Katie sent that message to me.
(As the expression goes, "I fell off my chair" when I read it!)
Through Zoom, a group of teachers from Canada and the US started meeting on Sunday evenings to talk about the changes and what we could do to help our little friends and their families during a pandemic. We also connected through a group chat on Twitter. When fall arrived, we decided to keep going and there are five of us who meet on Sunday evenings.
(I was a little late getting set up this night and snapped a picture before I turned my camera on.)
Virginia, New Brunswick, Colorado, Ontario, and Prince Edward Island come together to talk about teaching, life and our covid world.
(It is truly wonderful how friendships form across the miles.)

Sharing Our Stories | pronunciation
As I was reading messages in a group chat, a friend wrote,
"Everyone is scared except the deniers."
Another replied using the same word, saying a denier had blocked them on Twitter.
My brain was trying to figure out what a "denier" is.
I was about to ask and thought, "I'll Google it before embarrassing myself."
I read the definition and laughed out loud.
I was mispronouncing it.
I read it as a "den-ier".
But it's a "deny-er".
Oh, Loralee.
You have another funny pronunciation story to add to the family list,
but at least this time you didn't say it out loud!

Along with fourteen others, I was invited to a zoom meeting by Katie Keier, who is the author of one of my favorite books and blog. Katie is delightful and we have chatted through Twitter, but I was in shock when I received the message and noticed who was included! We could ask others who may be interested so I asked Lisa and Misty (who were in shock as well). Zoom was new to me so we had a little practice run (and giggle)!
On Sunday night, we met for the first time. Educators, from across Canada and the US, talked about distance learning with our young learners and what fall may be like if we are not in the classroom. It was amazing to connect with them. We are going to keep meeting on Sunday evenings!

something I read | about social media
A Proverbs 31 tweet took me to a blog post by author, Debra Fileta. As she was walking through a challenging time in her life, social media was making it harder as she felt everyone else was happy and had it all together. In her post, she shared something her husband said,
"Everyone is going through something, but no one posts pictures of their tears."Life is not "picture-perfect".
