After being in Scotland for the fall semester, Eliza accepted an intern position with Michael Green Architecture, a firm in Vancouver. In January, she moved there for eight months. For my birthday, Jim surprised me with a trip to go see her in July. I have put off writing about it, because I don't really know how to capture it all in sentences. I made two reels that can be seen here and here, but maybe a list of words will help.

A jar flipped out of my hand and I caught it before it could hit the floor.
Annie was in the kitchen and noticed.
"Nice, Mom! I saw your basketball skills in that."
Having to live with hearing them talk about Jim's many accomplishments in swimming, I didn't know whether to be proud, laugh, or roll my eyes!

Many years ago, I heard that we should keep a smile file.
It's been a long time since I've looked in the file with messages to my xplornet address.
I read some tonight and they did make me smile.
I, especially, loved this one from Jason MacPhail, a teacher at Harrison Trimble.
Thank you for the kind words, Loralee. You and Jim should write a parenting book. Annie and Liza are two of the loveliest young women I have had the pleasure of coaching. They are amazing athletes which is great, but they are even better people and that is what is truly important. My only regret is I never had the pleasure of teaching them or their brother (who I hear is also amazing). All the best. Stay in touch.
(I think God already wrote the parenting book.)

At the ceremony, Ethan received the MVP award for soccer and it was announced that he is an Academic All-Canadian. In the fall, he was chosen for the ACAA Men's Soccer First Team All Conference. With his high GPA, and the All Conference title, Ethan received CCAA's "most prestigious student-athlete honour, epitomizing a commitment to academic success and athletic achievement." We are beyond proud of him.
