Slice of Life Challenge | Day 3

A month ago, we had an ice storm and lost our power for seven days. While staying at my parents' house, I slipped on the ice and hit my head. We went to the hospital where the doctor confirmed it was a concussion. Goodness gracious! I had to be home from school for a while so when I returned, I shared a book with my students to help explain what happened to me. Here are a few pages from my story:

  2. Poor you. It must have hurt bad. I am sorry your experience with the ice was a bad one not a joyous skating one. On the positivevside - a book was born.

    1. It did! Much harder to fall at 48! I don't remember it hurting so much when I was young! Haha!

  3. You took a bad situation and turned it into a learning opportunity for your students using your own writing skills. I'm sure the next time they hear of someone with a concussion they will be all the wiser for your efforts. And you've no doubt inspired them to write of their own misfortunes!

  4. With my daughter being a coach, she has to complete training for concussions. It is so scary, but it is reassuring knowing that someone is trained out on the floor. I hope you are doing better!

    1. Much better!
In the world of sports, it's so good that a concussion (the hidden injury) is taken more seriously now.
