day 26 | slice of life challenge

Yesterday we went to my parents' house for a birthday supper for Jim. There had been freezing rain earlier, but the roads were fine by late afternoon. Then the weather changed again.  Mom and Dad live on a main route (speed limit is 90 km) and instead of racing by the house, the cars were crawling, sliding, and spinning. A salt truck wasn't seen for hours. They must have been busy trying to get to too many roads. The RCMP were on the road much earlier trying to help and warn cars. At 11:30, a salt truck passed by and vehicles started to move a little easier. We decided to venture out and head home.

  1. So glad you made it home safely! Freezing rain can really slick up those roads in the blink of an eye.

  2. I would so much rather drive in snow than freezing rain and ice. But I am so ready for winter to be over. We had colder temps this week and spring went packing. Have a glorious Easter!

  4. I'm glad you are okay. Freezing rain and icy roads are what I am most scared of, so dangerous. You're wise to wait. Have a lovely Easter tomorrow.

  5. YIkes. Those roads look treacherous! Amazing how spring showed its face and winter quickly returned. Glad you waited it out and were able to make it home safely.

  6. It's a good thing you waited - or your slice might have been a very different story.
