Slice of Life | Windsor Hall

Looking back at my Mount Allison University dorm room in 1988-1989, I see -

a quilt that came from our Landers' camp and is on Ethan's bed

a television that had one channel

a cassette tape player sitting beside it

a trunk that Dad got for $5 back in the 60's

photos on the bulletin board and I can remember each one

no books, but there was a shelf for our books between the windows

no computer as I never used one when I was an undergrad

I remember

transferring from Atlantic Baptist College to Mount A that year

wondering if that is where I was suppose to be

wondering what I was going to do

daily lunches with Wendy and Christine

only eating salad and English muffins

missing basketball

the adventure of the missing JVC walkman

going home on the weekends

a broken heart

getting cards every week from my sister

visits from my buddy, Craig

loving the town of Sackville

a moment at that desk when God reminded me of something I needed to hear

  1. I graduated from college long before you did, but some of those items I remember - that trunk, for instance, which was also a coffee table in my first apartment. Memories!

We have an antique blanket box for a coffee table in our living room.

  2. Photos can transport one to a time gone by. It's nice to visit that place, every once in a while.

    1. Hi Melanie! Loved finding a note from you!
How would our kids survive with one channel now? Wink!

  5. Wow...I really love how you reflected on what you "see" and "remember" from these photos. That is exactly why photos are so important. I love this as a way to use photos to brainstorm writing topics. Thanks for sharing!

  7. Visuals are so important. My roommate had the trunk at college that was our coffee table! Fun memories! No cell phones then - one pay phone at the end of the hall . . . wow! Thanks for the format! I see lots of possibilities!

    1. It's hard to find a pay phone now! I am one of the last ones without a cell phone, I think! ;0)
