Slice of Life | Day 1

After reading Teachers for Teachers, I started to think about their questions: What words would you put above the door handle of your school, classroom or home? What words do you want your children to celebrate?

The words on our walls at school...

In my classroom, we have many words posted on our walls such as, "We will work hard and have fun!" and "Encourage each other." Each morning, my students say the class motto together and throughout our day we reflect on these words.

  How can you encourage him?

What you did was so encouraging!

  I worked hard on _____!

The words on our walls at home...

If there were words on our walls at home, they would say, "May you be strong and courageous. Never terrified or discouraged for God is with you wherever you go." I have prayed Joshua 1:9 with my children since they started school.

I remember a day when Annie and Eliza were walking down the driveway to catch the morning bus and Ethan, who wasn't in school yet, was standing at the screen door. He called out to them, "Be strong and courageous!"

We are still calling that out to them!
