family music 153

From 1972 - 2001, Dad was the Minister of Music at the Lutes Mountain Church of the Nazarene. The following was written for a special service held in his honor.

Growing up in Sandford, Nova Scotia, Cedric attended Bethany Bible Collège in nearby Yarmouth. In 1948, his music career began with the Bethany Trio and the Ambassador Quartet until 1955. After marrying Marina Trites on September 22, 1956, he moved to Moncton where he worked for the CNR. Spending most Saturdays at the church, with only a few piano lessons behind him, he taught himself to play the organ. He continued to sing, joining a quartet and trio with the Moncton Reformed Baptist Church (Wesleyan), where he also played the the organ.

In 1959, while at Beulah Camp, Cedric felt God's call to go into music ministry full-time. So, he loaded his Hammond organ in the back of his pickup truck and began full-time ministry as a song evangelist. In the 10 years that followed, he ministered to churches all over the Maritimes, Ontario and the Eastern United States with his music.

From 1969-1972, Cedric travelled with Cedric Landers and the Harmonaires. The group included Cedric, Marina and Karrilee Landers, Melodie Lutes, and Harry and Gloria Wilson. Also in 1969, he went to work for Apex Overhead Doors, where he worked until his retirement in 1999. According to Cedric, "Apex was very good to me, I couldn't have worked anywhere else and had those privileges. I had good supervisors at Apex."

On December 3 1972, Cedric was hired as the Minister of Music at the Lutes Mountain Church of the Nazarene. He has been tireless in providing first class music to the church through cantatas, special guests, utilizing the church's own talent, and blessing us with his music and his own tender spirit and voice.
