family music 133

It was 1965.

Dad was in meetings and brought Karrilee with him. Mom was home with Laureen who was born in June.

While he played in the services, he had Karrilee, who was five years old, sit on the front seats. She would sing with him sometimes and having her sit there also helped him to know where she was.

It was the traditional tabernacle with the open walls and there was a window behind the platform.

During a service, Karrilee wrote a note and brought it up to the organ.

It said,

   "Tell them about the mouse."

There was a mouse running back and forth on the window sill!

She may have thought it would be interesting information for him to share before his next song!

Dad still has the note.

We've heard Dad tell this story over the years and it always includes the cute way she spelled the words. I now have a recording as they reminisced about it at a family gathering. It's fun to hear the laughter (and to hear Mom steal the punchline about the mouse)!
