repost | why write here

Why did I start writing here?

Michelle Nero encouraged me to join the Slice of Life with Two Writing Teachers, a wonderful place to grow as a teacher. They share ideas for the classroom, and they encourage teachers of writing to write. They also know teachers, like students, need a supportive community.

Why do I keep writing here?

While I have not been a part of the Slice of Life community for a long time, I continue to write here to save thoughts and stories. Like my dad, with scrapbooks, slides, and tapes, I want to save memories for my children to enjoy now or later.

Why did I start writing here?

- because of the Two Writing Teachers and Michelle Nero

- because teachers of writing need to write

- because teachers, like students, need a writing community

Why do I keep writing here?

- to save thoughts and stories

- to collect memories for my kids to read someday

- to remember blessings

a sentence a day | 2

Writing a sentence a day is still saving memories.

Gretchen Rubin reminds us that if you write one sentence every day, for five years, you'll capture over 1,825 memories.

a sentence a day | 1

I'm going to write at least one sentence a day.

It helps me keep writing when I really don't feel like it.

Growing up with emails and texts, my kids won't have a box of old letters like me.

Inside there are so many stories

   some remembered

and many not remembered until the words are read again.

Holding the letter and seeing the handwriting is a sweet connection with the writer.

Maybe I write here for three reasons.

1. to save memories

2. to save memories for my kids to read someday

3. to write because teachers of writing need to write and connect too

Maybe four.

4. to remember to be grateful

Maybe five.

5. to remember God is in the big and the small
