a sentence a day | 18

On the day before graduation, Ethan was asked if he could drop by the school to help out with something. When he arrived, he noticed parents and other students entering the courtyard as well. Trimble had gathered everyone together to present the major awards which are usually announced at the Awards Assembly, and again at the Graduation Ceremony. The staff wanted to find a special way to let the recipients know before their names were read in the programs throughout Graduation Day. (With individual ceremonies, grads would have heard from friends that they received an award.) Keeping physical distance, the teachers were in the windows, on the exit stairs and around the courtyard to watch the presentations. Ethan, along with Gabe, received the School Spirit Award! We are grateful for our school and how they have honoured the grads during this time.

.................................................

The recipient of this award is one who has shown true Trojan spirit throughout their time at Harrison Trimble and has made a significant contribution to the atmosphere that sets Trimble apart from other schools. This person can be seen at all major events --- be it on the stage or on the sidelines supporting all aspects of our school and local community.

The phrase "Trojan Spirit" evokes a certain sense of pride in all who have walked these halls. We think of assemblies, games, Trojan Trek and countless other events and activities. The words remind us of painted faces, painter suits, seas of maroon and white and happy, smiling people --- everything that is fun about being a Trojan.

Ethan, you have been selected as the co-recipient of the School Spirit Award 2019-2020. Your enthusiasm, commitment and unwavering positivity make you an obvious choice for this honour. Like a dragon, you are an energetic leader, regarded highly by your peers. Your ability to signal and assemble the Dog Pound was crucial come game time in the stands.

Keep these qualities and your Trojan Spirit alive as you begin the newest chapter of your life. It is time for us to let the head dog out to run freely with a new pace.

We will miss you,
Mrs. Marcy Keith and Mrs. Jamie Teed
