Annie is home again. A silver-lining in the covid cloud was that she was able to live at Beulah and volunteer when her summer job no longer existed. (Since she was little, never having to leave Beulah was her dream.) She worked daily around the campground and reached out to folks who needed help with things at their cottages. She was walking a dog for someone in quarantine or under a senior’s cottage digging out stuff. We were in the Labor Day service when they shared about Annie. Pastor Steve’s lengthy description of her made us laugh (she’s a little competitive on the pickle ball court) and touched our hearts...and then when he spoke of her love for Jesus and being a servant, my eyes filled with tears. The outpouring of love for Annie was beautiful. They expressed so much gratitude for her saying she was a joy to be around and she was willing to do anything to help anyone, but we hope they also realize what their friendships, words and love did for Annie.
There's nothing more heartwarming than hearing of a child's love for Jesus. What a wonderful tribute to your Annie and to those who touched her life over the summer.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful thing for you to witness. Thank you for enriching my morning.
ReplyDeleteWhat parent doesn't appreciate praise of their child. You have raised a gem!
ReplyDeleteI like the way you turned the last sentence. This is the beauty of serving — we give and are unexpectedly blessed in return. I often say to sam, “You’re blessed, so be a blessing!”
ReplyDeleteThis was so lovely. She sounds like such a treasure.
ReplyDeleteThe love in these words is deep and bright. A beautifully written piece.
ReplyDeleteAnnie seems to love the sentiment that to give is to receive. Beautiful!
