a sentence a day | 20

I am thankful for people, like Mrs. MacDonald, who take time to reach out with encouraging words. Her email about Ethan, after a long day of individual graduation ceremonies, really touched our hearts.

Hi Loralee,

Sometimes, it is nice to hear that the lessons that we tried to teach our children had an impact on their lives.  I always greatly admired your three children and today was another example of the kindness that you children live each and every day.

At the end of graduation, there were a group of grads gathered on the front steps of HTHS.  They were enjoying some final moments in their grad gowns on the steps of the school that they called home for four years.  A few of us had just finished moving some signs into the school before we called it a day.  Ethan left his friends and took the time to come over to us and thank us for the help, support and encouragement that we provided him over the years.  It may have seemed like a simple gesture to him, but to us it meant the world.  It reminded us that what we do every single day makes a difference.  Even though today was his day, he provided thanks to others.  He learned from the kindness that has been demonstrated and by the lessons that have been imparted by his family.  Today was his day, but Loralee and Jim, you should also take a big bow.  Thank you for raising three great young people that were an absolute blessing to work with each and every day.  Well done.

Jennifer
