When Dad was eight years old, he was play wrestling with a friend at school. As he started to fall over, he put his hand out to catch himself and sliced his wrist on a broken bottle. His father came up from the shore and took him to the hospital.
(Dad reflects on how he doesn't know how they contacted his father to let him know.) The nurse took him upstairs to surgery where his family doctor "sewed him up". When he returned to school, Dad said he felt "like a hero" with everyone's reactions!
